‘Rainbow’s End’ is the 2021 Hosta of the Year and my plant finally grew big enough last summer to be noticed. This hosta grows about 10 inches tall with a 20-inch spread.
I was a little concerned that this hosta would get a little brown and crispy this summer. While it’s growing under a serviceberry shrub, it gets full sun from about 2pm to 5pm each afternoon. Plus we’ve been in a drought for the last month or so. But other than a few brown edges on some of the leaves, it’s held up well and still looks true to its cultivar. Some of my other hostas that get too much sun have been known to change colors (usually they lose the variegation or special colors and revert back to plain green leaves).
‘Rainbow’s End’ is hardy in zones 2-9 and it sends up lavender flower scapes in August.
