This has been a weird growing season. I have plants that I thought were dead several years ago already suddenly popping up out of nowhere and blooming. Most of them caught me completely off guard so things are a little crowded in some of my perennials beds. I’ve got balloon flowers coming up in my bee balm and yarrows sneaking through my veronicas.
This little Oriental lily hasn’t bloomed in so long that I was still using my old plant tags when I first planted it. I stopped using those tags because the printing eventually faded away completely.
I no longer have any records of this adorable little Oriental lily and that old plant tag is blank. The blooms are about 3 inches across and they’re fragrant. The stalk grows about 18 inches tall.
I almost missed the little guy peeking up from a thick stand of rudbeckia ‘Early Bird Gold’ plants.
