Daylily ‘War Horse’ is a relatively new cultivar registered in 2015. It starts blooming a little later in the daylily season, so I got it to keep the daylily color show going a little longer in my backyard.
The scapes of this daylily reach 45 inches, so like ‘Sherwood Gladiator’, it’s another good one for the middle of a flowerbed.
The flowers are 8 inches across and fragrant.
They do fade a little in the hot afternoon sun, but that yellow-green throat keeps shining.
‘War Horse’ won the American Hemorcallis Society Honorable Mention award in 2018.
