I grew this beauty last year and decided to try it again. Amaryllis ‘Picasso’ has beautiful white flowers edged in scarlet-red with splashes and specks of red on the petals.
This cultivar is supposed to grow 20 inches tall, but my first scape topped off at 24 inches with 6 flowers. A second scape has also surpassed 20 inches and should open soon.
I potted up this Dutch Amaryllis in mid-November and was rewarded with the first blooms at the beginning of January. The flowers are a lovely complement to all all the red-blooming amaryllises.
I’ve grown more than 50 amaryllis cultivars over the last fifteen years, and ‘Picasso’ is definitely in the top 5!
