Offering a break from the traditional red or white amaryllis cultivars, ‘Lady Jane’ shows off lovely coral flowers.

The flowers are huge—8 inches across and double!

I’ve seen several height listings for ‘Lady Jane’, and they range from 12 to 25 inches. The first flower stalk from my bulb topped out at 18 inches. Two flowers are blooming, one bud is opening, and a 4th bud is biding its time. There’s really not enough room for 4 of those huge flowers to bloom at once.

My only complaint with this cultivar is that the flower stalk really leans. I have to turn the pot several times a day to try to keep it straight.

I potted up this bulb in early November, so it took about 7 weeks for it to bloom. A second stalk has just started peeking out, so I should be able to enjoy flowers from ‘Lady Jane’ for the next couple of weeks.
