Besides daylilies, I saw a lot of interesting lilies in the gardens I visited a few weeks ago. Many people confuse them, but the two plants are completely different. Daylilies grow from tuberous roots. Lilies sprout from bulbs.
This lily was about 12 feet tall… and it was growing in partial shade!
‘Orania’, an Orienpet lily (a cross between an Oriental lily and a trumpet lily) was blooming its fool head off:
I took a photo of the wrong label so I’m only guessing that this is Asiatic Lily ‘Kentucky.’ I just love the speckles. I think I’m going to add this one to my collection:
