We have two ‘Autumn Brilliance’ Serviceberry bushes in our yard and they have both cranked up the fall color this year. The leaves usually change from gold to orange to red in fall, but this year they skipped the gold and orange phases and went straight to red:
Despite numerous windy days, the leaves have held strong and the show has continued for several weeks.
‘Autumn Brilliance’ is a wonderful landscaping shrub (small tree). It grows 15 to 25 feet tall and showcases pretty white flowers in the spring followed by edible, blueberry-like berries called Juneberries in late May and June. If you can rescue the berries before the birds and squirrels and chipmunks eat them all, you will discover that they are quite yummy.
In the fall ‘Autumn Brilliance’ can rival maple trees for dazzling fall color.
