I would go bonkers if I lived in a climate where it’s sunny and warm every single day. I love the change of seasons and the interesting weather (although the snow is really pushing its luck right now). When it’s nice outside, I always feel the need to enjoy every second of it, and during the summer I’m always on the move. Winter gives me a chance to slow down. I don’t feel lazy about sitting down to read a good book, watching a movie marathon or playing board games. Plus, it’s a great excuse to drink hot cocoa and tea and eat comfort food without guilt.
Usually just after Christmas, I’ve had enough of the snow and cold and I’m anxious for spring. Thankfully the seed catalogs arrive in the mail just in the nick of time with their pretty photos and bright colors. I can almost smell the flowers and taste the vegetables on the pages as I flip through the catalogs wildly, looking for new and exciting varieties I can grow.
I’m well aware that spring is nowhere in sight–we’re under yet another Winter Storm Watch for a possible big snowstorm on Friday. But in my head I’m already planting my garden, and it’s going to be the best one yet.
