Whoa Snow!

Last Thursday afternoon I took a walk through the neighborhood. There was no snow on the ground, and I was thrilled to spot a pair of crocus bulbs blooming in a neighbor’s front yard. A honeybee was even collecting pollen in one of them!

I hope he made it back to his hive safely because 36 hours later we were walloped by a spring snowstorm. We were supposed to be at the very end of the snow band and only get 1 to 4 inches, but it quickly became obvious that we were in the bullseye instead. Between the time I got up at 5:30am and my husband woke up about 3 hours later, almost 9 inches of snow had fallen. When it was finally done in the early afternoon I measured 13 inches of fresh snow.

You know things have gotten crazy when I’m feeling sorry for a Cowbird!

Thankfully spring snow doesn’t last long. By Sunday afternoon the snow pack was already shrunk in half. And while more accumulating snow is supposed to arrive here on Wednesday, I see spring thunderstorms in the forecast for the end of the week. Someday soon spring will be here to stay!
