I like to think of gardeners as artists with a bigger canvas. It’s fun to take a bare patch of soil and turn it into an explosion of color. Here are two photos of some my flowerbeds taken this year in early April (you can see the still-melting snow) and again in early July:
About two-thirds of those flowers are annuals and the rest are perennials. It won’t look the same next year because I’ll try different annuals and I’ll move the perennials around and add new plants and yank out others (I can’t help myself–it’s a constant work in progress). Like any other work of art, some people will love it (hopefully that includes me) and some people will hate it. As long as it challenges my creativity, it’s worth it.
