Considering we experienced a three-hour surprise snow shower two weeks ago, it was a relief to be able to get my homegrown seedlings in the ground at the same time as I usually do (just before Memorial Day). And thanks to temperatures above 80 degrees (F) and a few thundershowers to keep them watered, they are already growing fast!
So far the only plight they have experienced is digging chipmunks. I did watch a rabbit ram his head repeatedly into the deer fencing to try to get in one evening, but so far he hasn’t figured out how to prevail.
I even had a chance to weed the perennial beds before the first mosquitoes of the season hatch. They should start appearing any day now.
