I’m slowly adding more hostas to my flowerbeds as my yard gets shadier. I still find hostas rather boring, but they certainly are carefree plants, and as a bonus the bunnies don’t seem at all interested in them.
I’ve heard good things about Hosta ‘Great Expectations’. It’s supposedly the best-selling hosta of all time:
‘Great Expectations’ is a slow grower that gets 20 inches tall and eventually spreads to 40 inches wide. The puckered leaves change color over the season. In the spring the centers of the leaves are lime-colored or chartreuse. As the season progresses that color changes to yellow, then pale yellow and eventually white.
The plants send up 24-inch-tall scapes in summer with clusters of white flowers.
