Clueless Coleus

My seedlings are growing strong. They don’t know that we broke an April snow record last Thursday (7.2 inches—our biggest snowfall of the winter season!) nor do they realize that yesterday was the first day we got above 60F in 138 days.

I’ve delayed starting most of my marigolds and zinnias by a week to ten days because the weather has been so chilly and unpredictable and they grow so fast. I can only raise the grow lights so high and then I’m in trouble.

The latest 10-day forecast looks much more promising with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. That’s a huge improvement over snow and lows in the teens. It will be interesting to see if we continue to warm up at this snail’s pace or if we catch up quickly in May and start to forget all about our winter that lasted almost 6 months.
