When I was cutting back my perennials for the season and cleaning up the flowerbeds, I noticed one of my daylily stalks had a double proliferation on it.
These baby daylilies are genetically identical to the parent plant, so they are essentially free daylilies.
You can try to root these little plants in water, or you can take the lazy route and just stick them in the ground. I went with the lazy route.
There’s a good chance a squirrel or chipmunk is going to dig up my baby daylilies or a hard freeze is going to nail them before they establish a decent root system, but I’ve decided to gamble anyway.
