Daylilies can survive for years even if they are planted in less-than-ideal growing conditions. If you have a landscaping project that requires you to move your plants out of the way, you can pretty much stick daylilies anywhere—even in the shade.
Now I’m not saying those plants will bloom for you, but as long as they are in a spot that gets rain they will most likely stay alive until you can put them back where they can get ample sun once again.
I kept a daylily in full shade for 5 years before finally remembering I had stuck it there. It only took one growing season of adjustment before it once again rewarded me with flowers.
