A Different Summer

After three years of drought and dry conditions in southern Wisconsin, it’s so nice to see everything green up again. On the country roads outside of our city, even the crops look very healthy and lush this spring.

And as I mentioned last week, perennials I haven’t seen in years are popping back to life all over my yard.

But what we could use a little less of is severe weather. Last week we were under more weather warnings than we’ve experienced over the last three years combined. One particular storm caused tree damage all across southern Wisconsin (not to mention knocking out power for tens of thousands of people).

It was challenging to string together enough dry days in a row to get all of my homegrown annuals in the ground, but they are all planted now. At least with so many rainy days I haven’t had to do any watering!
