Astilbe ‘Look at Me’ loved our wet spring and bloomed about 10 days earlier than usual.

What I love about this cultivar is the bright-red stems that contrast with the pretty, salmon-pink flowers:

‘Look at Me’ thrives in shade or part-shade and grows in a clump about 16 inches tall. Like all astilbes, this one appreciates regular moisture and well-drained soil.

This is another plant that has impressed me with its toughness. Like ‘Younique Cerise’ it grows in a north-facing location in a wall that also gets salt spray in the winter. It also get a pretty sturdy dose of late afternoon sun, but it’s never shriveled on me—even last summer in the drought.

Astilbes can grow in full sun if you keep them well-watered, but they are happiest in part shade or shade. ‘Look at Me’ is hardy in Zones 3-9.
