I didn’t grow any amaryllis bulbs this year, so I went to a garden center over the weekend in hopes of finding just the right poinsettia to brighten up my bay window. That’s when I came upon these double-bract poinsettias:
After doing a little homework, I learned that double-bract poinsettias have been around for at least a decade or more. This was the first time I’d ever seen one for sale locally.
It’s an interesting look. I thought they were completely different plants at first!
There are also single bract poinsettias whose twisty petals curl under and make it appear as if the plants have double blooms.
I was intrigued by the frilly flowers, but I opted for a more traditional poinsettia. Well, sort of.
More on that later!
