Baby Squirrels

I’ve often remarked that it’s weird that you rarely see squirrel babies—just full-sized squirrels.

I can’t say that anymore because the hickory tree in our neighbor’s yard has been host to a squirrel’s nest this spring. Way up toward the top of this tree.

The other day I noticed some movement on the trunk of the tree so I got out the binoculars. Babies!

There are at least four youngsters.

It was an unusually-warm day for mid-May so it was probably getting hot in that little nest. They decided to come out for some fresh air. Shenanigans ensued.
