Our backyard motion sensor lights were coming on a lot in the evenings earlier this month. I figured an animal was setting it off, but I never saw one.
Then one night my husband and I came home from a holiday gathering. As we were pulling into our driveway I noticed a big opossum (Virginia opossum–Didelphia virginiana) under the front yard birdfeeders.
Then last week he showed up about 30 minutes before dusk and snuffled around under the backyard feeders.
I’ve encountered a handful of possums in my lifetime, but until I took some close-up photos of this one, I had no idea that their ears have little pink tips!
