Daylily ‘Enduring Freedom’

Daylily ‘Enduring Freedom’ was a new bloomer in my garden this year. The first flower that opened wasn’t anything to shout about (photo above), but as each day passed, the blooms got more and more impressive.

I received the plant as a bonus.  I was told I could pick whatever daylily I wanted, so I went for an expensive one (newer cultivars are priced higher because there are so few plants being propagated at first). ‘Enduring Freedom’ grows 30 inches tall with fragrant 6-inch blooms.

I was also pleasantly surprised by its performance in my garden. Sometimes newly-planted daylilies are a bit stingy with the flowers the first year, but ‘Enduring Freedom’ gave me over 4 weeks of rosy, ruffled blooms.
