My ‘Kansas Kitten’ daylily really bloomed like crazy this year despite the heat and drought. It’s still one of my favorite daylilies out of the hundreds I grow.
The fetching, dark-lavender flowers have a dark-purple eye and lime-green throat. The flowers look even more intensely purple in the shade or on overcast days.
‘Kansas Kitten’ grows only 22 inches tall, so you can feature the gorgeous blooms in the front of a flowerbed or border. This dormant daylily is fragrant and blooms in the middle of the daylily season.

This is outstanding! I’ve been looking for a nice purple daylily. The ones I’ve tried have been more of a maroon. As a native Kansan, and a Kansas State Wildcat, I am a big fan of this one. Is this a reblooming variety?
I am going to have to track this one down. Do you have any recommended sources?
Keep up the great work!
Isn’t it a beauty? As for reblooming I can’t comment. It’s rare that any daylilies rebloom for me here in southern Wisconsin. I’ve grown over 600 different daylily cultivars over the years, and I can count on one hand how many have rebloomed.
I got my plant locally from a daylily club sale, but I noticed that online Bluegrass Daylily Gardens is selling it:

I have not personally ordered from them, but when I want to know more about a garden plant/product company I’ve had good luck using the Dave’s Garden Watchdog database. Bluegrass Daylily Gardens appears to get good reviews:

My plant isn’t blooming yet this year, but I just counted more than 50 buds on it that should pop soon. I hope you’re able to get your hands on one!
Thank you.
I am absolutely going to plant this!
