‘Cookie Monster’ is a sight for sore eyes this time of year when most of my other daylilies are done blooming for the season. The registered color description is “yellow self”, but that doesn’t do the flowers any justice at all.
I would describe the color as peach with an orange center. There are also hints of yellow on the petals and sepals. The combination of colors makes me think of a sunny beach in the Caribbean or a yummy fruit drink.
‘Cookie Monster’ was bred by the same hybridizers (Griesbach/Klehm) that created a series of bird-named daylilies that I adore so much. Like those other cultivars ‘Cookie Monster’ is a heavy-blooming, tough champ.
‘Cookie Monster’ grows 28 inches tall with 7-inch flowers that bloom late in the daylily season.
