A Smaller Splash of Color

Some of my plants are getting into the fall color act. The aptly-named ‘Autumn Brilliance’ Serviceberry is doing its thing:

The leaves transition from yellow to red with lots of pretty orange and peach shades in between.

And my balloon flower plants have all turned a look-at-me shade of bright yellow:

We seem to have a little micro climate in our yard, because even though there has been frost all around us (even within feet of our yard), we still haven’t had a killing frost in our yard. Despite that, I pulled out most of my annuals last week so the city could haul them away for composting. I spared the annuals that are next to our screen porch because they continue to look pretty good, and because the honeybees are still working hard and appreciate the nectar source.
