This is the view from the bottom of our driveway. The wall of snow is now taller than I am and when a car goes by on the other side of the boulevard I can’t see it. We received 13.3 inches of snow and 11 of it fell during the day yesterday.
It’s the second biggest snowstorm in Madison’s history. The biggest one occurred December 3rd, 1990 when 17 inches fell. I remember that storm well because a Madison Metro bus was stuck in front of our house for the entire day.
We are now just two inches shy of smashing the record for the all-time snowiest winter in Madison (76.1 inches in 1978-79). The most eye-opening statistic is that snow has blanketed Madison on 46 of the last 69 days. We haven’t been able to string together three days of sunshine since November. Perhaps that explains why even though I have a million things to do today, I’m lounging like a lazy cat in front of the sunny window.
