I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong with my fairy garden plants, but I’m down to my last two specimens out of six. I set up two fairy gardens in December, but in February I consolidated them into one since the plants kept croaking on me and leaving gaps. I would’ve replaced some of the plants, but I didn’t want to shop for them in the bitter cold.
Most of the fairy garden plants prefer filtered or low light and moist soil conditions (or so they say). I kept the gardens off to the side and out of direct sunlight, but perhaps there was just still too much light for them in my southern winter window. Or maybe it was all that dry air.
The asparagus fern has been the happiest and has never shown any signs of distress. I’m not sure what the other plant is, but I notice it’s now curling under its leaves—not a good sign.
I could add another asparagus fern, but perhaps I should just find some more plastic flowers at the craft store instead. So far I haven’t figured out a way to kill those…
