More Winter Weirdness

We broke an almost-90-year-old rain record on December 13th. I didn’t put out a rain gauge until after the first wave of rain had passed. Silly me. I had taken my rain gauges in for the winter already. The total rainfall amount for the 2-day event was easily over 2 inches.

It was still raining when the sun started to peek out out Monday morning, and I got to see my first-ever December rainbow:

My already-confused daffodils loved the heavy drink. They shot up several inches in no time, and now some other varieties have starting peeking out the ground. I picked a bad year to plant new bulbs:

I hope the earthworm I saw crawling across the pavement over the weekend burrowed back deep into the ground because the low tonight will be 45 degrees colder than it was then.

It may be getting colder, but dreams of a white Christmas are fading fast.
