The giant possum has a relative. On Saturday morning I looked out the kitchen window and there was a much smaller possum eating all the seeds that were exposed once the warmer weather melted all the snow.
This guy is at least half the size of the possum that sneaks around at night. He’s not all that bright either. I was able to unlock and open two noisy doors and stick a camera outside through a crack in the door and the furry critter didn’t wince or even twitch an ear—he just kept eating.
After taking numerous photos of his backside I decided to announce my presence to see if I could get him to look at me. I cleared my throat, and he whipped his head around and then quickly scurried off into some nearby bushes.
