April Snow

On Tuesday we endured rain and freezing rain that eventually changed to all snow. My robin was a fixture at the birdfeeder all day. Even though he’s been eating peanuts and other seeds (weirdo!), I put out some dried fruit for him which was a big hit.

The snow picked up in intensity in the evening and I knew we were in trouble when in the wee hours of Wednesday morning I saw the flashing lights of a plow go by and the big truck barely made a sound—all that snow was insulating the rumbling sounds a plow usually makes.

About 3 inches of snow fell overnight—a new record for April 3. While it’s a bit soul-crushing to still have snow and high temperatures in the 20s and 30s in April, I have to admit that it was a very pretty scene yesterday morning.
