We installed a security camera in the backyard to record critters (or thieves if they decide to stop by!). So far I’ve seen possums, raccoons, rabbits, mice and lots and lots of cats on the video recordings.
In fact I’m shocked that so many of my spring flowers and other perennials have been chewed on considering the number of cats that roam our neighborhood at night.
My neighbors have a new cat, but he’s only outside during the day. He’s a cute little thing, but apparently an escape artist. A few weeks ago he got loose and his owners were looking all over the neighborhood for him. Within the next day or two, he’d bolted out the door again, and the search was on.
Now he gets put outside on a leash. He can’t quite make it to our bird feeders but likes to get as close and he can and then crouch down behind some pavers and pretend he’s stalking birds. From the window all I see are his ears.
One day my neighbor was outside with him and she introduced us. We became instant friends. He is the sweetest little cat I have ever met! I crouched down to pet him and put his paws on my leg and stuck his head up nice and straight and waited to be petted. Then he climbed onto what little lap I had to offer in a crouching position, and he made himself as comfortable as if we were sitting in a living room by the fireplace. He purred and purred.
We’re going to get along just fine.
