My plant tag says this daylily is ‘Saigon Summer’ but it’s clearly not. ‘Saigon Summer’ is a golden-orange daylily with a green throat.
The closest cultivar I have that matches this buttery-yellow color with little fringes on the flower petals is ‘Carolyn Criswell’. But that daylily has 4.5-inch flowers and this mystery daylily’s flowers are a little over 6 inches.
Whatever the name, this daylily was a very pleasant surprise. The flowers are large and bright and really stand out in my flowerbed.
