Welcome to the tiny world of seed-starting.
Sure, tomato and zinnia seeds are easy to grab onto, but try separating nicotiana seeds (pictured above) or petunia seeds into individual plugs with your fat little fingers. You can barely see them much less pick them up.
Thankfully, a clever person invented the Seed Spoon. I wouldn’t sow seeds without one.
Each package comes with 2 polypropylene sticks that have different-sized spoons on each end. There are 4 sizes in all.
They make sowing tiny seeds a breeze. I used to just grab what I could and hope I was placing them properly in the soil. Now I can pick up each individual seed with ease and place it exactly where I want. I don’t waste any seeds and it really speeds up sowing time.
The best part is that these nifty little gadgets are cheap. I got mine at Lee Valley Tools for only $3.95.
