Remembering the 1990 Blizzard

Twenty-seven years ago yesterday, a one-day blizzard dumped more than 17″ of snow on Madison. I remember it vividly because a city bus got stuck in front of our driveway for more than 12 hours and the driver refused to leave his post. Neighbors did bring him coffee and reading materials throughout the day, but he never left that bus.

It was also the first day of work for one of our local meteorologists who is still the evening weatherman for that same TV station.

The high temperature in Madison was in the 50s yesterday, and today we’re supposed to have rain, wind and possible thunderstorms. It feels more like October than December.

But by Thursday winter-like weather will arrive. The high is supposed to be only 26 degrees.
