It was a rough summer for gardeners. We had a late record snowfall (I still had ice in my flowerbeds in May!), and there was so much rain. We thought it was soggy in June and July until late August and early September arrived and we were averaging an inch of rain a day!. It was hard to escape the clouds of mosquitoes or keep up with the weeds which grew sometimes inches overnight, and the soft ground made it a banner year for Japanese beetles.
Despite all that, I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to the growing season.
