Most daylilies will grow well in shadier conditions but they will give you fewer blooms. Some cultivars perform better than others.
I grow ‘New Clown Face’ in a flowerbed that gets only a couple hours of late afternoon sun. It bloomed just about every day for over 3 weeks this summer. The plant grows 24 inches tall with pretty light yellow flowers and a maroon eye.
