All week we’d been promised a light snow system that would barely scrape southern Wisconsin. Even the noon forecasts were sticking with 1-2″ inches if even that. I just checked the latest forecast and now, just a few hours before the snow is to arrive, we’ve been upgraded to a Snow Advisory for 3-5″ instead.
Weather forecasting technology has improved significantly in the last 20 years, but I think it has caused many meteorologists to rely on computer models WAY too much. They should use all that math and science they learned in college, and stick their heads out the window once in awhile.
UPDATE (9 p.m.): It looks like they should have stuck to the original forecast. The snow is already tapering off, and we have less than a half-inch of wet, heavy snow on the pavement.
