Back from the Brink

I’m very thankful that my flower seedlings are forgiving of neglect. By the time they reach a couple of inches tall I need to water them about every other day. But when it’s cool outside like it was over the weekend, the furnace kicks on regularly and their little greenhouse in the basement can warm up fast. If I’m not diligent about checking on them, I sometimes come upon this frightening scene:

Thankfully with a good drink of water and some misting of the leaves they spring back to life after a couple of hours, and you’d never know they’d just been clinging to life:
