Our neighbors’ cats get tied up outside so they can’t terrorize birds or rodents. The rodents have figured this out—especially the squirrels. They like to walk along the perimeter of where the leash allowance ends. They flick their fluffy tails at the kitties which drives them nuts.
The squirrels better not get too cocky because these two have slipped their harnesses dozens of times this summer, but usually they don’t go very far (although one does enjoy climbing trees).
When they get bored with being outside, they hop onto a rarely-used metal fire pit and meow together until their humans hear them and let them back inside.
